Mechanisms and Dynamics of Machinery, Fourth Edition, provides a unified presentation of mechanics for machines and mechanisms. The book has been updated to include the most recent developments in mechanism design and dynamics modeling. This thoroughly revised edition now has a greater emphasis on motion control systems. It includes coverage on natural frequency, mass transfer control with fluid circulation systems, actuator saturation with piezo technology as well as better explanations on input/output lag. The authors have also included graphical representations that can be used to solve problems with hand calculations or simulation software such as MATLAB or ANSYS that are provided in the student solutions manual for Mech 4e. Other new contents in this revision include: 1. Discrete and Continuous Systems 2. Velocity and Angular Velocity Constraints 3. Active and Passive Control of Motion Systems [ARTICLE END] Mary Rose Mabie was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 11, 1938 and received her BME and MSME degrees from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York City. She worked for General Electric Company in Schenectady, New York from 1960 to 1966. She then joined Cornell University as a research engineer in the mechanical engineering department, later becoming an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at that same institution. In 1972 she moved to California to become a professor in the mechanical and aerospace department at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1978 Mabie became a consulting professor at UCLA and she remained a visiting professor at that institution until her death. She was a member of SIAM, Society for Experimental Mechanics , ASME, Applied Mechanics Division Committee on Numerical Methods for Engineers Committee on Nonlinear Dynamics, and ASEE. In addition to being an author of "Mechanisms and Dynamics of Machinery", Dr. Mabie wrote the books "Numerical Methods for Particle Dynamics" and "Computer Graphics". Asher O. Reinholtz was born on December 25, 1965, in New York City. He received his BME from the Cooper Union, his MSME from Cornell University and a PhD from the Mechanical Engineering Sciences Division at MIT. He worked for General Electric Company from 1988 to 1990 as a research engineer, then for Eastman Kodak Company as a research engineer and later as a manager of advanced product development where he supervised development projects in fluid power and gear drive systems. Dr. Reinholtz is now an assistant professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Austin. In his other research he focuses on computational fluid dynamics and aerodynamics. Rip Anthony Reinholtz, Jr., PhD, MRME, CEng, CMRE, QSII is a mechanical engineer at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Reinholtz has a Ph.D from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science from Cornell University. He was a research engineer for General Electric Company from 1990 to 1992 and later held positions with Eastman Kodak Company as a research engineer and manager of advanced product development where he supervised development projects in fluid power and gear drive systems. In 2005 Dr.
